Trade Me Your Brewers: Trade #6

Another day, another package of Brewers to open. Life is good. This bunch comes from Paul in Pennsylvania.

2005 Fleer Tradition #48 Doug Davis and #167 Victor Santos +2
More of the cloud backgrounds I reviewed last fall.

1983 Fleer #28 Mark Brouhard +1
Part of the World Series squad in '82. The number on his bat is suspiciously "Ripken-esque." His Brewer teammates, however, were too busy drinking beer to pull such pranks.

2002 Upper Deck Vintage #153 Brewers Checklist and #148 Devon White +2
How the eff did Upper Deck get away with this? These are a direct rip-off of 1971 Topps. Sure, the names are on the bottom instead of the top, and there's a diamond between player and position instead of a dot, but c'mon!

1981 Topps #271 Bill Castro +0
Yes, he's the Brewers bullpen coach, but I already have the complete 1981 Topps set.

1980 Topps #711 Bob Galasso +0
See trade #2.

2006 Topps Updates and Highlights #112 Jeff Cirilo, #84 Tony Graffanino, and #92 Gabe Gross +3
Three guys I genuinely miss. I sill get my Cirillo fix on Brewers Live, Graffanino always seemed to come through when I was at last year's games, and Gabe Gross played that Jesus music before every at bat.

2006 Topps Opening Day #70 Carlos Lee +1
Straight-up gladiatorial leg armor ya got there, Carlos!

2003 Upper Deck Vintage #40 Ben Sheets +1
It's 1965 Topps that's being ripped off here. Jeezum Crow, Topps, get your lawyers out of the pool to start filing writs! Objection, your honor! Invest in some of that legal-sized yellow paper or something, at least make it looks like you are willing to defend your copyright!

2007 Fleer Ultra #104 J.J. Hardy +1
Shhhhhh, J.J.'s hibernating for the rest of the season. The Brewers scouting program failed to realize that he was 1/16 bear, albeit one with a screwed up internal clock.

2002 Fleer Tradition Update #U14 Takahito Nomura and #U86 Shane Nance +2
Before a little bit of time with Milwaukee, Nomura pitched for the Nippon Ham Fighters, which sounds like the Japanese equivalent of the Green Bay Packers. Nance applied for MLB reinstatement in November of 2007. Yeah, that seems to have worked out.

2007 Fleer #157 Chris Capuano +1
When we bought our season tickets last year, the Brewers ticket guy told me I looked a lot like Chris Capuano. My elbow's OK though.

2001 Upper Deck #163 Mark Loretta +1
Mark is swinging a bat on this card.

2007 Bowman Heritage #BHP36 Brendan Katin +1
He's with the AAA Nashville Sounds right now, batting .264. We'll see if he makes it up in a few years.

2006 Fleer Ultra #34 Chris Capuano +1
Not all Vietnam vets go through PTSD. Take Chris, for example. He got his shit blown off in Vung Tau and still managed to accumulate 18 wins in 2005. His Congressional Medal of Honor still lies somewhere at the bottom of the Reflecting Pool.

2008 Upper Deck #356 Prince Fielder/Team Checklist +0
Already got it, posted 5/31/08.

Paul actually sent a few extra cards, all of which I already have (2007 Opening Day Ben Sheets, 2008 Spectrum Prince Fielder, Mr. 3000, and a 1991 Fleer Brewers sticker). Paul's total ends up at 17 points.

STANDINGS
1. 42 pts: Cliff from Capewood's Collections
2. 23 pts: Rob from Rangers Cards
3. 19 pts: Kerry from Oregon
4. 18 pts: David from Tribe Cards
5. 17 pts: Paul from Pennsylvania
6. 14 pts: John from the UK

Good to see the cards got there safely. Happy we were able to fill in some spots in the Thorzul Brewers Collection.

Enjoy the cards - Team Phungo is looking forward to the next trade.
