CC: Yukon Cornelius Edition

The world of sports has had a love-hate relationship with the color gold. In the most positive light, gold is the color of victory, associated with trophies, medals, and rings.
At the other end of the spectrum, gold takes a seedier form. In the realm of pseudo-sport, gold was the color of the WWF's indescribable Goldust...

...as well as perennial Sunday-morning Superstars of Wrestling tag team fodder, The Conquistadors.

And who can forget the disaster that was Marquette's attempt to alienate anyone who was ever associated with the university by switching the team nickname to the Marquette Gold?
The lastest batch of CC cards I've acquired, however, doesn't look anything like your two out-of-shape uncles cramming various body parts into a gold hooded unitard.

2009 Topps #170 Gold Parallel (0949/2009)

2009 Toppstown #TTT14 Gold Parallel

2009 Upper Deck O-Pee-Chee #OPC-6

2009 Upper Deck #GJ-CS UD Game Jersey Dual Swatch "52" (136/149)

No gold on that last one, but there is a cool jersey number-shaped swatch.

Well, remember, Cornelius was after "Silver and Gold..." :-) That last card looks silvery...

While writing this I did some research. It turns out that in the original version, Yukon Cornelius is actually in search of a peppermint mine, thus the licking of the pickaxe. This revelation has apparently been restored on recent re-releases of "Rudolph."
