Is This Card Real?

Reader input requested:
I've been watching this card for a few days now, wondering whether I should bid or not.
The problem is, I have never seen a patch card in the Archives Reserve set. Not of Yount, not of anybody. Did Topps even place patch cards into this set?

The seller has awesome feedback and a huge number. The other patch cards in the picture look legitimate.
Tell me what you think. The auction ends tonight, and I've got an itchy bidding finger.

Saw some other Archives Reserve jersey cards:

Also, I don't think the card you have listed actually is a patch card. It could be just a two color jersey card.

I hope it is real because if it isn't and someone has figured out how to manufacture chrome refractor technology all will be lost in the battle against counterfitters.

I have seen many multi color jersey and patch archives cards. I hate to say this, but there is no way to tell whether it is authentic or not so if it is for your collection who really cares if the card just costs a few dollars. With that said, if it is for investment and it costs a ton, I stay away from questionable patches.

I don't think Topps knew what a patch card *was* back then. I have a Chipper Jones jersey from Topps around the same time, where you can see the stitching from where the patch was taken off. I think you're cool on this card since it looks like a piece of the sleeve trim. It's a good addition to an esoteric Yount collection.

Dayf is, as always, correct. Note the progression of the patch card. I have a few multi colors from UD from the Rams SuperBowl jersey cards, but patches were too thick to put into cards. I have quite a few cards with the stitching removed to take the patch off.

If you look at the early Topps Chrome pro bowl "patch" cards, you can see that they were parts of numbers and such but none were multicolor patches because of the required thickness of the card.

Also UD did this with 2008 Masterpeices football plain jersey Rashard Mendenhall cards. Lots of multi color but no thick patches. Makes one wonder whether anyone that works at these card companies actually know anything about cards.
