At this point in the group break, I'm reminded of one of my favorite scenes in The Man Who Wasn't There. Ed Crane (Billy Bob Thornton) is in the middle of a haircut and he pauses, looks over to his partner, and comments on the remarkable ability of human hair to keep growing. "It just keeps growing. No, I mean it's growing, it's a part of us. And we cut it off. And we throw it away."
These teams just keep coming, right at a time when I have other great blog ideas. Nose to the grindstone, though. Just please don't throw these cards away and mingle them with common house dirt.
Teams: White Sox, Rockies
Buyer: White Sox Cards
Favorite Cards: '97 Circa #396 Frank Thomas Checklist, '97 Circa #377 Larry Walker, 1995 Pinnacle #357 Joe Girardi
Really, folks, put your hands together for Frank Thomas. This may be his best card, even though we're not sure what he's doing. Tell you what, I'll make it a multiple-choice question.
What is Frank Thomas doing?
A. Getting in touch with his feminine side.
B. Jamming out to a light-rock John Mayer guitar riff.
C. Asking Jobu to come, take fear from bats.
D. Using an advanced remote viewing technique to track down his missing left leg.
No parallels or inserts for either team, so Steve is also getting a Moments & Milestones card of Brad Hawpe with a dinged corner, and a bunch of White Sox cards I've been saving that I found for his want list.
More to come.
