The 100 Best Finds in a 30-Dollar Lot: #66

1963 Topps #344 Don Schwall

Don has the appearance of being one tough customer.
Let me put it this way. If you were like eight years old in 1963, and your mom was divorced, Don Schwall looks to be the last guy you'd want her to end up dating.
At first he'd make you call him "Don," but after about two weeks he'd change it to "Dad." You would insist on "Schwall," not "Mr. Schwall," just "Schwall."
If a knock came at the door that Billy from down the street wanted to ride bikes, it had better be before 7:30, because after that you had no chance Don would say yes.
He'd often take the family out for ice cream after dinner, but when he found out your homework wasn't done, he'd make you stay home. Then, when they got back and your homework was finished, he wouldn't bring any for you.
He would come to your little league game, but the umpire usually wouldn't let him stay past the fifth inning.

And you had better believe your peas would get finished.

I was actually hoping for a Don Schwartz.
