An Exact Center

The transition from Cock Rock to Grunge was a gradual and hazy one. If you were to draw a line from one to the other, I do believe I've found the exact midpoint.

Point Break.

This film represents a tipping point, where the likes of the triple-W trinity (Winger, Warrant, and Whitesnake) gave way to the better, more authentic sounds and stylings of grunge rockers such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden.

I subscribe to the theory described in the Drive By Trucker's song Self Destructive Zones:

It was 1990 give or take I don't remember
when the news of revolution hit the air
The girls hadn't even started taking down our posters
when the boys started cutting off their hair
The radio stations all decided angst was finally old enough
it ought to have a proper home
Dead fat or rich nobody’s left to bitch
about the goings' on in self destructive zones
