DID YOU KNOW...
Mike Schmidt invented the weekend?
It's true. Before his bill was signed into law, The typical American week ended on Thursday before starting up again with Sunday. The deal with that, however, was that Sundays were only one hour long, the duration of which one was required to spend at church. That's right, you got home from work on Thursday night, the next thing you knew it was time to go to Mass. And then you would sing the last few bars of "Gloria in excelsis Deo," grab your bulletin, and then head for the Monday morning commute.
Mike Schmidt, we salute you and are forever in your gratitude for legally guaranteed Friday and Saturday nights.
