Nightmares on Cardboard 2013

That time of year is once again upon us, the month when every noise can make you a wee bit jumpier, the stores only sell food laced with pumpkin spice, and the temperature finally dips back down into the 70s. Along with the changing leaves, the one thing humankind can count on is another installment of Nightmares on Cardboard. Yes, it's time to fire up your image manipulating program of choice, pop a VHS copy of Hellraiser into your DVD/VCR combo unit, and feverishly create.

The theme for this year's contest is...

Yeah, I'm sure you already read it when you opened this post, but for the sake of redundancy, I'm asking contributors to Fear the Fleer. Create a scary card, a whole monster box of cards, a cobweb-filled wax box, or whatever... just make sure it's Fleer. Fleer from the '60s, Fleer from the '80s, hell, Fleer from the period when Upper Deck just licensed its name. Venture anywhere you want on this one, reference a movie, a true crime, or just get weird with it.

There will be prizes for the top three submissions. Not sure what they are yet, but I'll try to pick something good. This year I'll be going back to the former dictatorial style of determining a winner. Experiments with democracy in this day and age simply don't work. (Just kidding, last year's winner was totally deserving.)

If you wish to enter, you have until October 26 (a Saturday) to submit your entry to me. Email me at bill13boehm@yahoo.com if you wish to submit electronically, or if you just need my mailing address. If you have that stuff already, then I wish you good luck.
