Pull the Trigger 4.14 ($50)

The time has come for someone to pull the trigger on this lot. Better get in fast before someone else claims the cards out form under your nose.

2005 Topps Pristine Tony Gwynn Leading Indicators Game-Worn Jersey #LI-TG

This was from an unclaimed Padres spot in a bygone group break. I like Gwynn, but I can let this one go to someone who might appreciate it more. First to claim the lot in the comments gets it.

Look at all the other great stuff you get for fifty bucks!

SLEEVELESSNESS!

Pull the Trigger 4.13

I'd really like to get rid of these cards. Maybe a couple of '59s will do the trick. Fifty bucks takes the whole lot.

Old Timey

The other day we took the kids to visit Grandma and Grandpa on the other side of town. At one point, my mom broke out a little photo album full of old pictures from her side of the family. Many of these were ones I had seen before, but one in particular caught my eye. This is a picture of my mom's maternal grandfather, my great-grandfather.

I just love the look of this photo. The only thing that could have made it better is if this guy has a turn-of-the-century mustache. The St. L. on the shirt could mean anything, most likely not St. Louis. The frame gives me the impression of this being an old Turkey Red cabinet card. I wonder how close great-grandpop got to playing pro ball. We don't have too much info to go on, but it's just nice to get a glimpse of the olden days.

June Card Draft: One Last Try

The June Card Draft still hasn't filled up. If it fails to fill up, I'll be refunding all of the money that has been sent. To entice a few more people to join, let me show you another bunch of cards that will be available in the draft.

To sweeten the deal even more, I'll increase the number of cards each person gets form 10 to 15. Sure, it's more work for me, but it's the fun type of work.

And finally, if you're already in the draft and you wish to claim another spot, let's call it $16 instead of $18 for any additional spots you wish to purchase.

You can read other posts about this draft here and here. Sign up on this post, please.

2. BS (paid)
3. madding (paid)

June Card Draft Preview #2

To reassure everyone, no, I haven't forgotten about the June Card Draft. There are still 7 of the 10 spots left. Hopefully this thing will fill up if I start to show some more of what's going to be available. This whole stack of 1975 Topps is going to be draft eligible. They're not in perfect condition, but they all need a good home.

I'm just going to copy and paste all of the other information to this post. Sign up here if you're interested.

For the June draft, I'm going to limit participation to ten spots, and there will only be ten rounds in the draft. The cost will only be $18.00 this time around, less than the price of a blaster full of disappointment. Make sure you will be available this week or next week to submit your draft picks.
Draft payment can be sent to: bill13boehm@yahoo.com

If you want in on this draft, leave a comment AND SEND IMMEDIATE PAYMENT FOR YOUR SPOT. I'm not going to be holding spots for days and days, so make sure you're ready to pay the entry fee before you sign up.

Also, please INCLUDE ALL IMPORTANT INFORMATION IN YOUR PAYMENT. This includes your screen name, real name, and mailing address. It's way easier to just look at the current payment than search through old emails to try to scare up an address.

One more thing: USA mailing addresses only. Sorry, but postage has gotten ridiculous.

DRAFT LIST:
1. Nick (paid)
2. BS (paid)
3. madding (paid)
4. Kevin (paid)
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Once the draft is full, the draft order will be randomized. As it was last time, this will be a serpentine draft.

Hey, That Shit Actually Worked

I just wanted to post some thanks to madding for sending an unsolicited Yount card my way.

2013 Topps Chasing History Robin Yount Holofoil Parallel #CH-34

I had this card listed in my Most Wanted sidebar, and one day it just shows up. Awesome.
I'll be changing the list to include the other two versions of this card, a gold holofoil and a regular one.

June 2013 Card Show Report: Part III

At last, the final installment about my most recent card show trip. I saved the best stuff for last.

Lot of 6 1959 Topps Milwaukee Braves
I went a little Braves crazy here, pulling cards out of a binder indiscriminately. One of these I already had. It will show up in the next Card Draft (which you can sign up for here).

1956 Topps #171 Jim Wilson
Bad headshot, great action shot. This looks like it's supposed to be Wilson covering first on some sort of crazy infield play that ends with him snagging an errant throw. If that's the intent, cool.

A couple of dollar box '54s coming up.
1954 Topps #49 Ray Murray
My daughter correctly identified the elephant on this card.

1954 Topps #73 Wayne Terwilliger
She also got the "W" on this one. It used to be "diddy-boo" when she was first learning her letters, but she's got it down by this point.

1971-72 Topps #233 Red Robbins
Like I said before, I had no want list with me, but I grabbed this because I was sure my memory would have stored a card with a guy like this and a name like this. Good job, brain, I needed this one for my set.
Oh, and there's this:

Lastly, I'll show off my steal of the show. I was eyeing a pile of '59s offered by a notoriously fussy dealer. He had, surprisingly, some well-labeled stars from the set in somewhat off condition. Not to be bothered by such things, I returned to his table right before leaving the show and plunked down a Lincoln for this:
1959 Topps #317 N.L. Hitting Kings
Eighty bucks, my ass. Still, I feel real good paying $5 for this specimen. Corners are shot, centering is atrocious, but you can't get this card for that cheap online in any condition. The only Mays card I need for the set is his Baseball Thirlls card. Feels good. Feels real good.

That's it for my show report, hopefully I make it to another one this summer.
