Trade Me Anything VIII #2

When I opened up Trade Me Anything VIII to the masses, Pat from Hot Corner Cards saw just one card he'd like to trade for. Sometimes, one card is all it takes.

#US-207 Rajai Davis Red Hot Foil

Weird. For some reason Topps decided to capitalize the word "baseball" on the back of Rajai's card. Didn't know that word was a proper noun in all contexts. Have a look for yourself.

Six 2014 Update cards from my want list.

1993-94 Fleer #8 Kevin Wilis, #142 Anthony Mason

The player names on the backs on these are pretty cool, even if it is one of the most disappointing Milwaukee Bucks ever. Oh well, B-Boys Makin' with the Freak Freak, right?

Thanks, Pat!

Trade Me Anything VIII #1

It's been my least productive blogging year ever, but once we get close to the holidays, I leave myself with no choice but to churn out posts like some graham cracker assembly line stooge. I do it because I love it. Let's see what's getting exchanges by mail.

This trade came from JediJeff.

Fond Farewells #FF-PK Paul Konerko

The Future Is Now #FN-JA3 Jose Abreu

Some 2014 Panini Prizm World Cup inserts (Ribery, Lloris, and Ruiz)

A few various Prizm insert parallels:
Guillermo Ochoa Guardians

Belgium Team Card

Ghana Team Card

Lot of 6 2011 Topps Lineage 1975 Mini Parallels

I have to say that I'm already thrilled with TMA8. Although I haven't got around to posting a want list, I am collecting the Prizm World Cup set and all of its regular inserts. I needed the two Frenchies, but not the Costa Rican. The parallels are nice, too; Ochoa had a bomb-ass game against Brazil if I remember correctly, and the U.S. took on both of the other teams.

As for the Lineage, it's one of those sets that I'm chasing for sentimental reasons, but only halfheartedly. I love the '75 minis, but that's going to be a nasty mother to collect. I just hope the other trades of anything are even half as good as this one.

Trade Me Anything VIII: The Keepers

Each year there are a few cards that I just can't release into the TMA pool, no matter how much they yearn to breathe free. There were only two this year, and I wrote some words about them below.

75th Anniversary Buyback 1977 Topps #246 Mike Vail

The stated odds on these are 1:18 packs (#THANKSTOPPS), but I only got one of them in my box. The verdict is not yet in on whether or not this card will go into my '77 Topps set. I'm not actively collecting the set at this time, but in a few years it might happen.

World Series Heroes #WSH-RC Roberto Clemente

I always keep Clementes. He was one of my keepers last year as well. My favorite part of this card is the little Three Rivers Stadium graphic commemorating the 1971 World Series. It looks like most of the other cards in this insert set just use the MLB World Series graphic for that year.

Looking forward to some trades coming my way this week!

Trade Me Anything VIII Has Arrived!

Back in 2007, I had an idea: Trade away all of the extra stuff from my box of 2007 Topps Updates & Highlights in exchange for whatever someone wants to send for it. Well, in recent years the name of the product has changed, but the premise remains. I recently opened a box of 2014 Topps Update Series (which I kick myself for buying every year, since you can usually buy the product a year later for half the price), and all of the insert cards (save for two) are yours for the picking.

The usual spiel...

1. Check out the list of available cards below. Select one (or a couple) you want. Just remember, the more you claim, the better your trade material should be.
2. Send me an email with your choice of card(s) at
Please don't leave a request comment on the blog. This just confuses people, so don't do it, it will just be deleted and will not count.
3. I will reply to you as to the card's availability. First come, first serve. I will include my mailing address.
4. When I confirm the card of your choice, pick out one or more of your own cards or anything else you want to send me. A few guidelines about what you can't send: Nothing that should really be in the garbage, nothing perishable, and nothing illegal. (Notice I didn't say nothing immoral.) I've got a want list you could check out, too!
5. Send me whatever is was you picked out. Don't tell me what it is before you send it, I'd like to have it be a surprise! Include a SASE or you won't be getting your card.
6. When I receive your item, I will take a picture of the trade materials and post the happy couple on my blog, and then I will send you the card.

Here are the cards you may choose from. Cards that have officially been claimed are in BOLD.
