A Gift from the King

Not so long ago I happened to catch a Twitter post where someone was giving away small lots of cards of each team in Major League Baseball. That someone was The Legendary Frank King (@TLFrankKing). To my surprise, the Milwaukee Brewers were one of about five unclaimed teams when I saw the tweet. A few days later, there was a treat in my mailbox. Here are some of the highlights.

2013 Topps Heritage #HC89 Yovani Gallardo Chrome Refractor (057/564)
My Gallardo collection had stalled for quite a few years there, as he was playing for almost every other team in baseball since 2015. I was pleased to see him return to Milwaukee this spring, but he failed to make the main roster and is now in Texas.

2018 Panini #138 Eric Thames
I generally don't buy Panini cards, so it's nice to get one of Thames.

2017 Topps Archives #6 Ryan Braun
A new one for the Braun binder. Yeah, I really don't buy any new baseball cards now. It's a combination of things, but Topps really doesn't do itself any favors in the baseball department. Remember, they're a candy company first.

2018 Topps Heritage #155 Orlando Arcia
Just a solid, good-looking card. The Brewer whites, which they don't wear all that often at home, really pop with this design.

2012 Allen & Ginter #233 Shaun Marcum A&G Back Mini
Marcum is a forgotten man of the Brewers' 2011 playoff run.

And finally, an example of something that happens every so often, a non-Brewer accidentally joins the pile. This 2013 Topps #556 Nick Hundley Gold Parallel (0388/2013) continues the occasional occurrence of a San Diego Padre being mistaken for a Brewer. It's understandable that this happens during the sorting process. It also takes place with late-'80s/early-'90s Seattle Mariners. It's probably the big M that does it.

Anyways, thanks for the cards, King!

I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
